Complete Conflict Competence Training for Graduate Students and Postdocs

Thursday, December 7th, 9am to 2pm, Graduate Center, Room 1230, Walker Hall, Register here with 1-click!

While conflict is inevitable, how we respond to it helps to shape how it develops. With proven conflict management techniques, you can minimize the negative impact of conflict, keep relationships on track, and lower your stress. In this workshop, you will learn and practice strategies to effectively prevent and manage conflict. Techniques covered include: de-escalating emotionally-charged situations, successfully communicating your needs and lowering others’ defenses. You will have the opportunity to put these strategies into practice by developing approaches to realistic conflict scenarios. This workshop consists of 1) a 3-hour interactive instruction session that substitutes for the following microbadges: Understanding and Recognizing Conflict, Preparing to Address Conflict, and Addressing Conflict; and (2) a 1.5-hour practice session, for which learners will earn the Conflict Management Practice Microbadge. Upon completion of this workshop, learners will earn the Conflict Competence Pathway Micro-credential.

Responsible Conduct of Research Series

The objective of the Responsible Conduct of Research program is to provide graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, faculty, staff and NSF funded undergraduate students with information, training, and tools to address the increasingly complex issues that they will confront during their careers. The RCR program may be used to satisfy NIH, NSF, and USDA-NIFA training grant requirements for the responsible and ethical conduct of research training programs.

DataLab Workshops

The DataLab offers workshops (short seminars, half to full day, or multiple day modules) that complement the material taught in regular courses, provide hands-on applications, and present new topics and under development techniques. Workshop topics depend on the needs of our data science community and available expertise. All members of the UC Davis community (students, postdocs, faculty, staff) are welcome to register.
